Lithuania Galiu Gyventi (“I can live”) is a coalition of non-governmental organisations and experts working in the field of dependencies on behalf of vulnerable groups. Jurgita Poškevičiūtė is executive director.
Malta SOS Malta is a non governmental organisation providing assistance to the poor. It has four areas of activity – overseas development; social integration; research and training; and volunteering – and is linked with national networks in the social field. Nicola Critien is Project Manager, Monique Fallon is Project Officer, and Claudia Taylor-East, Managing Director. There is collaboration with the Malta Association of Public Health Medicine, whose members include Dr Miriam Villa and Dr Julian Mamo, Director of Studies, Department of Public Health Medicine, University of Malta.
Poland Medical University of Silesia, with campuses in Katowice, Zabrze, Bytom and Sosnowiec, is one of the largest medical schools in Poland. The School of Public Health in Bytom provides education for about 150 students a year and links with the Provincial Sanitary-Epidemiological Station and Silesia Public Health Center. Dr Krzysztof Krajewski-Siuda is Head of the Department, and is also linked to the University of Krakow.
Romania Centre for Health Policies and Services is an independent organization established in 1999, concerned with health systems performance, social dialogue and community participation. Dr. Dana Fărcăşanu is Chief executive, Cornelia Doina Matic is research officer, and Dr Florentina Furtunescu is senior lecturer in the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” Public Health Department, Bucharest
Slovenia National Institute for Public Health, Ljubljana, is the main site of public-health research in Slovenia. Dr Mojca Gabrijelčič is Assistant Professor in health promotion within the Institute, and Sandra Radoš is Research Officer.
Slovakia. Slovak Public Health Association is a civic association and national member of EUPHA, networking between public health professionals and the general population, providing an authoritative voice for public health policy and seeking international collaboration. Dr Zuzana Katreniakova is SAVEZ chair and Dr Iveta Nagyova Rajnicova executive director. SAVEZ works closely with the NGO “Stop Smoking”, led by Jana Potúčková, Programme Director, and Peter Šťastný, President.
